Our People
Our nurseries, playgroup and breakfast club are run by an expert team of childcare professionals.
Staff are selected for their caring nature and their professional qualifications in childcare. Our management team all hold degrees/level 4 in childcare, and all staff are 100% qualified Nursery Nurses (Ofsted only requires that 50% are qualified). Qualifications include Early Years Degrees, Diplomas in Nursery Nursing (N.N.E.B), B Tec National Diplomas in Childcare and NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Childcare and Education.
At Children's Choice we believe in the value of ongoing training and development. All staff are encouraged to pursue professional training, with regular supervision and appraisal sessions to maintain the best quality teaching standards.
Our owners Peter and Alex Thompson - a husband and wife team - are still involved in the day to day running of all our settings ensuring they stay at the forefront of best standards and childcare practices.
Alex Thompson, BPhil Early Childhood Studies, Advanced Diploma In Childcare, OFSTED Inspector
Alex Thompson has almost 30 years experience in childcare, a Bachelor of Philosophy in Early Childhood Studies and an Advanced diploma in Childcare and Education.
During her time in childcare she has managed a number of nurseries, inspected over 150 nurseries nationwide for Ofsted, and worked as an assessor for students studying for qualifications in childcare.
Alex supports each manager, and has a key role in planning the curriculum, observation and assessment, and training and development. She ensures that childcare provision stays at the forefront of the latest and best childcare practices.
Peter Thompson, BA (Hons), Dip.M, MCIM
Peter’s Design & Technology expertise enabled him to design an innovative open plan nursery environment. With Alex’s professional input, the nursery design incorporates the best of modern learning environments from across Europe, and leads childcare best practice.
Peter’s role is in the business operations of Children’s Choice, and the continual development and maintenance of our buildings and technologies.
