Nutritious Food and Exercise

The sharing of meals and snacks play an important part in the social life of the nursery, and reinforces children's understanding of healthy eating. Children are encouraged to eat at a table with their friends and staff. Lunchtime is a social occasion with children chatting to one another and older children serving themselves from their own serving dishes. It is also an important time for children to talk about what they did earlier that day and share their experiences with each other.
As part of our healthy eating policy, we serve plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables every day. Our nursery chef prepares fresh, delicious foods every day with no added salt and minimum sugar.
Children grow their own organic vegetables and herbs in the nursery allotment, and we are proud to hold the prestigious Surestart award for ‘Being Healthy’.
We believe that by fostering early beliefs in healthy lifestyles, our children are more likely to continue them in later life. We encourage healthy lifestyle options for exercise, including a wide range of fun and motivating physical activities such as PE, Yoga, peer massage, music and dance and many more.
